What I Meant To Say…

Come link up with the Chief over at Hiding from the Kids!  Hurry up….she has threatened people with the MeMe Mafia or somthing like that!!

WIMTSW-2

Go!!  What are you waiting for?????

So, I’ve noticed that the tween doesn’t always wear her retainer.  Yeah, the one that is supposed to keep her pretty teeth in line after spending a few thousand dollars on expanders, braces and such.  I have been reminding her every time I notice.  A few weeks ago I asked her where it was.  She said…

“I lost it.”

I said, “huh??”

What I meant to say is>>>>

“Holy fucking monkey balls!!  Are you kidding me??  YOU, my sweet child, need to find it and I mean NOW!!  Check your book bag!!  Check under your bed!!  Check in your laundry basket!!  Check Check Check everywhere!!  Because, my darling first born, if you do not find that green sparkly molded piece of shit plastic I am going to make a new one for you myself and it ain’t gonna be pretty and it certainly won’t be painless!!  Do you understand????”

The retainer has since been found in her laundry.  Unfortunately, it has been out of her mouth long enough for her teeth to have shifted.  Someone said to have her force it in…yes, it will hurt, but it SHOULD HURT.

It’s not like I can say we will just forget about it and not go back to the orthodontist because she still has an appliance on her bottom teeth!!  Yep…so there will be no getting out of this one, and she is sooooo not happy.

What else can I say?  I do know that I will not be paying for another one.  And she can look her orthodontist in the eye and admit that she didn’t do as she was instructed.

I think this will be one of the first times she is going to have to take full responsibility for her actions.  Up to this point, she has squeaked by……

Ohhhh….it’s hell growing up, isn’t it??

OMG, you are too freakin' funny!!! I wore braces as an adult...Do I still have my retainer? Why yes, I do. Does it fit? Hell no, and it will hurt too freakin' much to force it in so I don't plan on getting anywhere near you!!!!!!!!

Your daughter could have told you what I told my mother 15 years ago... that I didn't *like* to wear it! She went ballistic on that!

Make her force it in. It won't hurt that long. Consider it punishment. Yeah, I'm that kind of mommy.

I'm with the group - force it in. And, for the record, I'm glad I'm not the only one who believes in tough parenting!

I love it! I only saw one that wouldn't force it in... the rest agree with me. SOOOO the question is.... did you force it in yet???? The longer you (she) waits, the more its gonna hurt.

I have so lived through that! One daughter was obsessive about her retainers, the other didn't care. She now is getting ready for her second set of braces so..... brace face it is, and sooner because she didn't wear her retainers!

Here you have it, Terry. Show the tween how lucky she is that you are her mother. These other mothers would force it in and I'm not against that either.
Life is hard and love hurts.
Responsibility is an important lesson.

LMAO @ the picture. My mom ALWAYS got on to me about my retainer. I didn't know until recently how much money they cost. Guess that is why she was SO mad. LOL

Wow... I'm lucky that I didn't need a retainer (or orthodontist work) but I can say my dad would have definitely made me wear it for the money involved. Yikes! Hope she learns her lesson... and that straight teeth come soon for her sake!

Blessings!

Linzy had his retainer 6 days and it broke! They didn't charge to fix it and that's a good thing!

well sometimes you just have to learn the hard way! lol!!

if it isnt the retainer, its the glasses or contac lenses!

Thanks for playing again this week!

I'd like to see the results of your homemade retainer!!! That would totally rock.

Went through the EXACT same thing with my oldest. When the dentist told me my middle guy needed orthodontic work my reply was "Well he can get orthodontic work, when he's damn well old enough to appreciate it". The dentist almost fell off her chair.

Oh my poor neice! She is just going to get it from the dentist and she will feel bad because I KNOW her...he will hurt her feelings...might be the lesson she deserves! If she were one of my boys, she would not be alive right now :) OR, I would have shifted her teeth back mySELF! :) LOL! Poor you!
